    Description

Mutual Film Original One-Sheet Poster (1915) Linen Backed
An ancient poster, over 100 years old, for the Mutual short LITTLE DICK'S FIRST CASE (1915). This charming poster was featured in the most famous art book of film posters REEL ART, published by Abrams. The interesting thing about Liitle Dick is that little Dick is actually played by a young girl, Violet Radcliffe. Radcliffe made over thirty films before her untimely death in 1926. In most of these roles she played male characters. From the blog A Gender Variance Who's Who: "Violet made her first film at age 6, her last at the age of 10, and was dead at age 18. In 5 years, from 1914 to 1918 she made 34 films. She finished her career in Fox's Sunshine Kiddies films, children's stories with most parts played by children, in which she played male villains. She was Prince Rudolpho in Jack and the Beanstalk, 1917, the evil magician, Al-talib in Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, 1917, the Robber Prince in The Babes in the Woods, 1917, Long John Silver in Treasure Island, 1918, and the Chief Executioner in Fan Fan, 1918." The poster has been linen-backed but it on an older linen, Condition is very good, but this poster does have some distresses. Nevertheless, it is mostly well preserved and it's stone lithography features vivid color, unfaded. MovieArt Austin guarantees that this poster is an authentic, vintage one-sheet for this film. MovieArt Austin will sell NO reproductions. An amazing poster.
